This is a free form open work pottery bowl. I create it by using clay coils in a random pattern, the join them with clay where they touch. I call it clay welding. It’s created in a graduated curve, in a fan shape . The base is approximately 6 inches, and it gradually fans out to approximately 12 inches in diameter. The octopus was hand sculpted and is off center on one side of the vessel. I hand brushed the glaze colors, and it’s suitable for use as a fruit bowl, you can also use it to warm or bake bread in the bowl. The octopus is aqua, with a hint of purple and orange, to make it appear translucent and changing in color, the background color is with off white .The glazes are lead free and the bowl has been fired to over 2000’ I consider my work to be functional art for your table.
